Light Catchers

“My first memory is of light - the brightness of light - light all around.”
― Georgia O' Keefe

Darkness is creeping slowly over the world. Flowing like ink into the eyes and mouth, dripping in muted drops from wearying fingers, it is taking command. Mankind finds itself at what is most likely the end of time.

When I go for a walk on city streets or in the mall, I look into many people's eyes and see vacancy, despair, and fitful grasping for a panacea.

Just one devoted Christ follower carries sufficient light to reach hundreds, maybe thousands of souls dwelling in darkness. The Pew Research Center estimates the population of Christians around the world to be over 2 billion.  Why then is spiritual darkness progressing?

There are many facets involved in answering that question. Instead of probing the darkness with intellect, I suggest Christians devote themselves to prayer as they have never done before, returning broken to God's Word. No words of man can certify the light transmitted when an individual reaches a trembling finger up to touch the hand of the Most High.

The purpose of this blog is to celebrate the light of Jehovah. My life's intent is to grow increasingly sensitive to the luminous presence of God.

I see evidence of his nature in the stars, shining like diamonds; in the toss and toil of the seas; in the whisper of sunset splashed across a cooling sky; in the sound of a baby's cry; in the keening of the bereaved. We live in the light of grace. Go out and pour it into somebody else's life.

"He's the fire in the winter
He's the light that shines on shades of grey
Like the rays across the ocean
The jewel of all my days."

-Introit by Michelle Tumes
